I had two probs, down to one now, 1st. Up trim button stopped working so I followed back one set of wires that come through from the transom and have now by passed the trim limit switch. 2nd my trim guage is not working so i traced the other set of two wires that came through the transom only to find that they are connected to a circuit breaker.....i expected them to go to the trim guage? any ideas?

Re: Trim Guage wires

Neil,

The trim gauge wire shouldn't be connected to a circuit breaker. The sender wire from the gauge, brown with a white stripe, goes through the harness to the big canon plug (Bondo's name for it and I can't think of a better one) then, to a bullet connector. The mate for this bullet connector is attached to the wire that has a 'twin' and goes through the transom gland to the sender on the gimbal ring.

Chris...........

Go to section 1C in the link below, and on page 1C-17 there is a wiring diagram.
It's also the troubleshooting section of the Merc service manual, so it should take you step-by-step through the process of locating your problem.

http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Servmanl/6/6covr3.pdf
