so what is merc thinking with this design? With my gimbal rebuild, I'm replacing the two main hoses that go from the manifold to the pump. How in the F*&K are you supposed to be able to get the two ends that go on the manifold on? Could they maybe have made the hole a little bigger so the two hoses actually can move a little so you can assemble the fittints to the manifold and then push them back through? Or, maybe make the 90 degree turn pieces a little longer?

Generally they are removed with strings or wires attached, and those are used to pull the new lines back in

5757.jpeg So, the only way I could get the hoses on was to reverse them- the gray hose has a longer bend like it is supposed to go over the bend on the back hose. This diagram clearly shows hose number 3, the gray going to the back or beige side of the manififold which makes not sense as the black one has the shorter bend and for the gray to go over it, it's at the front?

Most the pics in the parts catalogs are not 100% accurate. The longer one goes furthest away from the transom

Well...since I really don't know what I'm doing other than to follow the instructions...I assumed that...if assembled they would not pull back through, just would not git. I'm good, moving on!
