Hello all, Me again! My set up: 1982 Sea Ray V197 SXL 260 HP/ Type I ((I think)) outdrive.

When out this past weekend, the trim indicator on the helm was pretty erratic. I checked it out today and the wires were freyed way up in the outdrive housing from the left/right steering action. I can see where they go through the transom just above the drive shaft, but cant get to it. Also, once through, I'm having trouble locating where they go in the engine compartment. One of them definately goes to the block and appears to be a ground. Any suggestions/ideas on how to get new wires through, or where the second wire goes? Do I have to pull the drive unit to make this repair?

Another quick question, the trim limiter has been disconnected (I just bought the boat used) and it appears that the trim hydraulic pump is new. I can see where the old, very brittle wires stop by the pump but they're not connected. What do they connect to? That way if can get the wires through the transom I can do both at the same time.
