Both of my trim gauges are not working but my trim controls are working perfectly. Both the starboard and port gauges indicate both drives are fully up and don't move at all when I either lower or raise both drives. My port gauge did work but to try and transfere the problem I just switched out each gauge for the other. When I did this both gauges then read both drives were fully up when they were not. I then changed out both gauges back to their original locations and now I have both of them not working and now reading both drives are in the full up position when actually both are in the down position. There is absolutely no movement of either gauge right now.

Check the wires from the sender on the drives. The wires break down over time. It could be the senders themselves also.

This is what I found. The trim sender switch on my starboard drive had two badly decomposed wires that one of them had already broken off. The good part is that there is enough good wire that I will be able to splice the new sender unit onto the good wires. This will save me from having to remove the drive to install the sender unit. My question that I need to know is there any orientation for both wires that I will be splicing into the new sending unit? I don't want to ruin a new sending unit because I crossed both sensor wires.
