Does anyone know if the trim limit switch is available anywhere? I haven't been able to find it yet. It's the one at the top of the gimbal ring/bell housing area. The #1 drive doesn't have them on the sides. Thanks. Jim.
Thanks fun times. I'd like to find one of those old thunderbird formulas with the twin 165's like he was restoring in that post. Then I'd have double the trouble trying to find these old parts.lol.
biggjimm, I tried finding even one and had no luck so I just threw in the towel and sealed up the holes on the transom plates. There was one on ebay about a month ago but I missed bidding on it by a day or so and since then I haven't been able to find another one. If you ever do find a source that has some let me know and yes when it comes to restoring and rebuilding a boat with twin engines that are 43 years old it is twice as much trouble  pun intended
Ayuh,.... I know you guys are tryin' to "Restore" yer boats,...
But really, it takes the tiniest amount of common sense to live life just Fine, without a trim limit switch,.....
The trim limit, 'n trim sender were the 1st things I tossed on my drive, Years ago,....
got little billet aluminum caps where the plastic covers go,...
Never missed either one of 'em,.... since '96, 'n nearly 2,000 runnin' hours,....
Yeah Bondo I hear you, the whole time the boat was running the trim sensors never worked, I could look at the wake or listen to the engine and know about where the legs were trimmed at its just trying to get her back to as close as she was to 1972 but I agree I can live without them that's why I sealed the holes and moved on. Two less gauges I need to buy, mount and wire
The only reason I wanted to find a replacement was so my father in law can't run the trim all the way up to the trailer position while running the boat. He doesn't run it that often but occasionally he'll take it out. It still has a working trim gauge but his truck had a working oil pressure gauge & I just put a new engine in it last year because he ran it low on oil. I'll try to school him on how to properly use the trim function again. Thanks guys. Jim.
Oh, ok Bondo. That's good to know. I could just imagine him cranking up the trim & blowing u-joints out or something. I just don't need him tearing anything else up, if I can keep from it. He's like a teenager when it comes to tearing things up, and then tries to blame everyone else. Ha. Thanks. Jim.
