While troubleshooting my trim system I found that I could raise or lower the lower unit with the limit switch unplugged and no jumpers added at the bullet connections. Although the trim limit switch test good the system will not respond to the setting of the switch in other words it will not stop the up travel. after checking the wiring at the pump etc and not finding any issues, I thought that the wiring must be rigged at the control (model, brand unknown). Although I don't have a trailer switch I thought its acting like someone hot wired the up switch to act as one. I started looking at the wiring at the control and found there to be the all the wires connected( before the switches) to the appropriate wires at the harness, The only difference was there was a white wire that was hooked up to the green wire coming from the control and hooked into the green at the harness .I could not find the white wire on any prints so I unhooked it just to see what would happen, now the lower unit goes up but doesn't get the signal to come down. WHAT is the white wire (its looks factory from the control) and How do I make the system act as it supposed to? Why wouldn't there be a trailer switch on the control and how do I add a remote trailer switch? Thanks for any input!

No Title

Update, I stated I don't have a trailer switch, after taking apart the control handle I found that there is in fact a trailer switch. The push button was busted off I thought what was left was the remints of a handle release. The green wire goes to this switch and the white goes to the trim down. This sheds a whole new light, I probably wouldn't be able to find a new switch and a new control is out of the question I think the best plan for now is the remote trailer switch. thoughts?

If I understand you correctly, currently the drive can go full up or down with the trim switch. The issue is there is no limit switch in line.

My thought is to leave it as-is and just don't trim it up high unless your going on a trailer.

Well you could install a trailer switch somewhere else (besides the shifter, helm, ect) and wire the limit back in. Trailer will connection is the purple/wht to Blu/Wht. Here is the wiring diagram

Thanks I have that diagram but I couldn't find out the trailer switch color codes I appreciate that info. That's what I think I'm going to do is add a remote switch, I found out what control it is( morse universal) but couldn't find a new switch so a remote it will be. I'm thinking a SPST momentary.

Ayuh,..... Ditto,... That's how I wire 'em from the start,.....

My trim switch looks like a signal light switch on the side of the column, like a car,....
With my left fingers, up is up, 'n down is down,....
Trim can be Felt in the seat of yer pants,....
Tiltin' it ya just gotta be careful,....

At planin' speeds, no way you can get to the Tilt point, the prop blows out before that,....

I've been doing that by the seat of my pants thing for awhile but then I started reading about the importance of maintaining a set dimension at the cylinder bolts so you don't come out past the ears on the gimbal ring. It made me kinda nervous so I decided to fix it plus I may be selling her so I want things to be right, did I also mention I'm. anal retentive.
