The port side is is the trim limit sw.The starboard side is the trim sender for a gauge on the dash.the limit sw.has 2 male plugs that go to the pump. The other 2 go into the harness near the carb or coil at the back of the eng.1 male one female.Hope this helps

How in the world did you fish those new wires through the back of the transom? I have been fighting with the same rotten wires all day now!

Will it matter what wires go to what plugs? My wires at the switch and sender were so rotton I couldn't distinguish one color from another. I plan on just soldering new 24 gauge wires to the units if and when I get them through that assembly.

Re: Trim Limit Switches...wire problems

If your looking at the back side of the switch you'll see two wires connected by little screws kinda counter sunk and routed canals. The wire that connects the closest to the side from where the wires counter sink and RUN IN from under the side of the switch( the shortest line in) is the"purple-white" wire connection.
The wire running the longest to connect is the "blue-white"wire connection.(per-service manual number 6 stern drive units)

Mine were so black and rotted I couldn't tell what was what. so I bought new color matched wire and re-ran them. As far as getting them through the transom well I havn't quite figured that out yet it seems as if they are bolted down with a wire clamp of some sort for making a water tight seal and to keep from pulling in and out....?(Looking from inside the boat just above the shaft.)
