trim limiters

just wondering if there is something that will only let you trim so high when running wot, sunday I was running at 63mph at 5500rpm's and no matter how much I tried I could not get it to go higher? thanks in advance :confused:

The trim cylinder rams only allow a certian amount of trim up before the tilt cylinder rams take over for tilting the motor. The tilt cylinder rams are not designed to take the force of a motor's forward thrust above a certian rpm (like 2000 or so). They will either not move or just settle back down to the trim cylinder rams. In order to trim higher the trim/tilt assembly needs to be relocated out farther (if possible) or install some shims on the motor to tilt it out more.<br /><br />What type of motor do you have? Some systems are different but work basically the same.

I'm running a 1991 Johnson Fastrike 150hp on a Ranger 374V she runs strong with a full tourney load and 2 200lb guys full gas tanks and livewells 63mph at 5500rpm's

WOW! 63 mph in a boat, my old ford ranger pickup never goes that fast. Be careful! regards fred

If you think you need to trim more, you likely need to raise your engine, I cant beleive Walleyehed didnt tell you that???
