I have a 93 Johnson 90 hp V4 that usually runs amazing. Starts up every time, gets yearly tuneups and has never let me down. The last few times out on the water however it has started bucking slightly and losing power, sometimes even shutting off. It always starts right back up and most times the problem will go away after a few minutes of idling. The only pattern that seems to be consistent is that I'm trimming the bow up for waves. Running the boat (93 four winns freedom 180) with muffs in my driveway it will run all day, until I trim it up....then I need to squeeze the bulb to keep it running. No gas leaks and I know that gas is getting through the lines. Gas filter in engine also looks clear and clean. Any ideas?

Model # VJ90TLETS. I don't believe the carb bowls are plastic and the tune up I had done 3 weeks ago had the compression numbers all within 5 % but I can check that again when I get out of work. I figured if it was a carb or compression problem then it would always be happening. Not just 20 % of the time. But I have been wrong many many times.

Trouble shooting will find the issue with your motor.-----Perhaps test run with the cowling off.
