trim motor?????

I've got my old trim motor out and putting the new one in and there is a little gap before it is all the way flush I can't get it to go down Any body know? Thanks

Gee, a picture, plus year and HP of the motor would help a lot.

There is a little "H" type shaft link that may not be lined up.
