trim on cobra

i have a 87 thundercraft with cobra motor. Last weekend the trim wont go up or down but u can here the pump. where do i put the oil in just in case that s the prob?<br />There is a cylindrical part horizontal and on top of that there is another cylondrical part wityh a screw half way up. Just on top of that screww there is a sticker with 2 arrows pointing up

The bottom part is the motor and the top part is the resevoir. The screw halfway up is where you add fluid, normally it should be up to the bottom of the hole, should use OMC trim/tilt fluid or Dexron II. CAUTION....normally you check the fluid level with the drive up, with the drive down it pressurizes the fluid and if you open that screw fluid will come out under pressure. Of course if the fluid is gone I guess it doesn't matter. If the boat is on a trailer you can lift the drive up manually and block it there. If you are out of fluid then you will have another problem, a leak somewhere.
