Trim only works in Engine Warm Up

I just bought my first boat, 89' Bayliner Capri w/a 5.0 OMC 200hp. My trim switch is located on the throttle lever. Last week it stopped working, the only way i got it to work was to put it in engine warm up where it worked fine. Is this a problem w/the switch/lever arm?

your going to need a shop manual and a meter then you will have to follow the electric diagram it could be as simple as a bad conection or some small part that is bad <br /><br />only time and patince will solve the problem as there are to many places it could be me to guess were to start<br /><br />tommays
