On my Alpha on drive, Mercruiser, 5.o lx....my trim pistons are dropping. No signs of external leaking. Any way to test these ? Too expensive just to throw new ones on not knowing what the cause.. Pump issue maybe ?

Re: Trim pistons

Can we have the drive serial number please. As there are about 4 different breeds of trim ram and trim pump, the serial number will enable us to find out which ones you have... Without the number, we're just guessing...

Re: Trim pistons

Could be the cylinders, could be the pump. You need to disconnect one of the rams, plug the lines and see if it's still dropping. If it still drops, do the same with the other other. Still dropping, disconnect the 2 lines at the pump and plug them. when the dropping stops, the unit disconnected is the culprit....

Someone has just been through exactly this process a little while ago.... Where's Ted when you need him???? (When I find the thread I'll edit here and add it.)

Chris.........
EDIT: Found it... I'm sure Mr Penfield won't might if I repost his thread.... Thanks Ted. ;)
