Trim Problem

I have a 1978 140 Johnson. 3 wire trim. Will go down but not up?? Can short across solenoid and it goes up fine. I installed a new solenoid. It made no difference. I have it wired per the diagram in the cover over the solenoid. New switch in the binnacle control. Full of fluid. Any ideas?

On the factory 1978 3 wire system, the solenoid only powers the unit when raising the engine; the power flows from the switch when lowering the engine.

You might want to disconnect the battery and check the wiring again with your ohmmeter.
