Trim problem

Hello all!

I was recently told that my trim was leaking and I needed a new trim kit. I found where the fluid was coming from and unscrewed the two hex bolts to check it out. The left on is apparently a pressure release valve and when I unscrewed that one, the motor dropped. After screwing the bolts back in, the trim has stopped working. I have a 2008 190ssi chaparrral with a Volvo 5.0 GXi motor and volvo outdrive. I'm thinking I need to bleed the system but I dont know how? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried cycling through it handful of times? Up then down, up then down? When my Transom housing was replaced, that's all the mechanic did you get it 'catch'. I'm not sure if there is a bleeder that needs to let air out.? If all you did was release the manual override screw, I wouldn't think air would get into the system?

There are far more knowledgeable people on here than me to assist...If you have a factory manual it will walk you through the process of bleeding?

The Sticky Under the Volvo Penta Section has this...

Thanks for the reply and the link. The trim button won't bring it up at all. I did manually lift and lower it a few times to no avail. It has been sitting for a while and now its harder to lift the motor up manually?
