Trim pump clicks but does not turn.

Hello, I have a mercruiser trim pump with up and down solenoids. When I hit the trailer button the outdrive will go up until it is fully up. When I go to trim it down the pump clicks, but the motor does not run. <br /><br />Is the clicking sound the switch in the relay flipping positions? Is this a bad solenoid, pump motor, or trim switch? <br /><br />This problem was happening at the end of last season, but the pump would eventually run and then it would not have the problem for the rest of the day. Only after trailering. I want to fix this problem this year though, before i trailer it to the lake, and have to go home early. <br /><br />Any help would be apriciated, especially with how to diagnose the solenoids/switch/pump. <br /><br />Thanks,

A year and a model number would sure help, could give you a link to the service manual with complete details if I knew which one to give you.

When mine did this is was just bad connections on the switch wires.<br /><br />ross

It is a 93 on an Alpha one drive. I can't see any marking on the pump itself were do you find them?<br /><br />Mike.
