I have a 1970 Wellcraft v20 with a mercruiser 165. I have been fixing this boat up for 2 years now, mostly mechanical stuff and I am learning as this is my first boat. I went to go fishing/crabbing this morning and the motor would not go down. I found the trim pump was leaking at the top where the bracket joins it for the shift cables. this is original equipment in this boat and after looking online for parts this morning I can see finding original parts is going to be difficult if not impossible. I would like to convert it to a more modern pump set up and bypass the old pump system. Can anyone give me some insight on the easiest way to do this and hopefully most cost effective.
