well, i bought two solenoids from trim pump....my problem was pump worked in bringing the drive up perfectly, and down intermittantly, would click, work good, then click again... I thought I'd install two new solenoids, the unit was 27 years old, I installed a new pump 1.5 years ago, solenoids were original I suspect. I followed the wiring photo of unit I took before i removed anything, now it works down perfectly and wont come up, I push the up button on throttle just clicking....bad solenoid?, something not grounded perhaps? Ive got the solenoids I took off, maybe put one back on? any suggestions would be appreciated

First remove all that black gunk and get down to clean copper, wire brush the wire connectors too. If the relay clicks and nothing happens the solenoid contacts are not making contact .I would verify the motor as working by using a jumper from the main buss to the blue motor wire first.

Well it seems im getting no power to the fuse (red) wire from the plug connector from helm ghat plugs into trim unit that powers top solenoid. Which does not work fuse not blown I took a jump from main power line which was on a bottom solenoid to the top it worked fine. So i jumped power to both from main power source seem to.works fine now.. short from helm to fuse? Frustrating

the helm wiring DOES NOT provide the power to the red wire with the fuse. its power comes from the buss between the solenoids

ok, is that a specific part? "buss". is that the connection plate the solenoids are attached to? a specific part I forgot to connect? its definitely lack of power to the blue solenoid.

I remember now seeing a metal bar on the floor there, must have fallen off when I took it apart, and me not knowing what it was......thanks for pointing that out Doc...

Yes, that plate transfers positive to the solenoids and the red wire to the control. I just rebuilt mine and found corrosion in the 3 prong connector and the fuse holder. I found an inexpensive way to make a new harness, details in the link in my signature.
