Trim pump operates with or without trim limit sender.

99 mercruiser 5.7 with bravo 3 drive.

Recently acquired boat with many issues. I just replaced the trim senders and hooked them up correctly but the limit switch does not limit the up or down movement of drive.

i can disconnect the wires and the drive will still operate up and Down with no limits.

I thought someone may have bypassed the wires but they don’t appear to have been messed with.

Any ideas?

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,...... The limit switch only effects how far the drive will trim, Up,......

Goin' down, the pump unloads into by-pass, 'n the noise changes,.....

I'm guessin' that somebody jumpered yer's, Somewhere,......

Probably at the transom wires, or possibly at the pump, but it's by-passed somewhere,.....

Thanks for the reply, it was bypassed up by the throttle control. Got that part worked out now I’m on to other problems
