Hey folks, new here, have had this boat for a couple years, its a '77 Doral with the Merc 165 (chev 250 L6) with the I drive (pre Alpha)

Anyhow, I'm in the middle of a tune up, and seal kit on the lower unit, parts will be in tomorrow.

The boat has a trim gauge, that has never worked, there is a black wire dangling near the starboard side trim cylinder, I assume its for the trim gauge. Where is the sending unit on the outdrive?

I have merc 165's in my Sea Ray (1977) The trim senders are round and are mounted on the outside of the Lower Unit where it hinges. Mine don't work either BTW but no big deal.

Thanks Doernuth. I agree its not big deal, would just be handy, instead of a dead gauge.
