Trim sender now works...but WTF

Got my wiring nightmare straighten out and new trim sender on, key on for test and hit trim up. Reading is back a$$ward, trim up and gage needle goes down, trim down and needle goes up.

2.4 with three ram trim. Sender P/N 821180A6

What am I missing.

My local Merc service manager told me there are two different sending units available. Port and Starboard. I've never heard of this.

Any suggestions?

Should I just do as before and drive by the feeling. Doing it mostly for reference when the wife or son-in-law are driving.

The SM is correct. The senders for V-models mount on the opposite side as those for inlines. If you have the wrong one, it reads backwards. You could mount the gauge upside down I suppose.
