trim sender wire connections

4.3 VP 1997 trim sender 3863007:
There are 3 wires to connect into two pins, when I connect the black and black ribbed into there without the white it works ok and even when they are swapped around its ok. do i need to bother with the white wire? or just connect the 2 blacks, and which way round is best:?

I guess that sender that won't fit, must have fit?

The same sender is used with the DP models that have the trim limit system. On the SP version with only a gauge only the 2 black wires are used, and it doesn't make any difference which black is where.

Thanks for that Don, I did try the sender into one of the pivot pins before fiting and it went in with a hard push, that actually broke the end of the plastic tip, but that seems to make no difference., I am therefore assuming it will fit when put on.
Any tips for fitting onto the leg?
