Trim sender wires broken off

1979 pre-alpha drive with trim sensors. starboard side of trim sensor has wires broken off right at the casing. under the little cover, I see two plastic pieces that the wires came out of, but no way to re-attach the wires.

Is this just an automatic replacement? do new trim sensors have wire that needs to be routed through the transom? or will new sensors have wire ends that can be hooked up to my existing sensor wires?

Can I put my outdrive back together and deal with this trim sender issue later without drive removal?

I found some info that tells all I need to know. Replace the trim switches now, with bell housing off. New wires must be run through the transom.

And a warning about how tough it is to get a small screw out on the wire retainer.

Naw,... Most of Us just learn to drive the boat Without 'em.....
Use the Seat of yer Pants, instead of the Gauge...

Bond-o, that sounds good to me. Given the fact that my boat is still in my barn, and not in the lake on July 4th....no extra work needed this year.

just started my engine for the first time today. ran good. gave me a little fit though. while cranking, I noticed oil spilling out the dipstick! I thought, NOW WHAT#@%&@###! then, I took those little plugs out of the valve covers and hooked up the breather hoses and all was well !
