Hi guys, Was wondering if anyone could explain what a trim sender is for me. :confused: I have clue when it comes to engines. I just had some work done on my boat, and that is what was replaced. The extended warrenty didnt cover it and I want to make sure I am not getting screwed. <br /><br />The service agremment covers:<br />Trim and /or tilt motor, trim cylinders, cylinder rams, cylinder mounts and pivots, trim motor actuator solenoids, control valves, revers loc valve, pump, trim and/or tilt wiring harness, trim and/or tilt master control switches. Seals and gasket of a covered component if defective.

The sender is a transducer (measuring device) that tells you the angle (trim) of your drive with respect to the water. You have a trim gauge on your dash that is "fed" from the sender.<br /><br />On a Merc stern drive, the sender is a device that looks like a black puck on the gimbal assembly (the thing the actual drive connects to on the back of your boat)<br /><br />Here is a picture and the process for adjusting:<br /><br /> http://www.mercstuff.com/trim_limit.htm <br /><br />Hope this helps.

Thanks! Am I wrong in being angry that this is not covered in Premium Marine Protection Plan? :confused: :mad: <br /><br />This is a service agreement for FPC (First Protection Corporation) on a Four Winns boat. It looks to me like they jot down a lot of crap just to make the coverage look impressive. Unless I am mistaken, looks like EVERYTHING else is listed as being covered. So unless someone can convince me otherwise, I cannot recommend this service to ANYONE. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.... Sorry, but I am pretty mad about this.

Ya,<br />Unfortunately the Sender,+ the limit switch are $2.00 parts that take $100.00 in Labor to install......<br />And, They've Never been known to Last........<br /><br />All of My boats have had them by-passed.....<br />After the 1st couple hours of Seat Time, I just Know Where the outdrive is........<br />And, I get to put a more important gauge in the empty hole............ ;)
