I am trying to local the sending unit for the trim signal on my mercury force 120 outboard. I purchased the factory repair manual, parts list and owners manual and I can't find in the books. Any one have any idea where the unit is>

Welcome to iboats and you might not have one.

They can be installed, but they didn't automatically come with them. There are two styles. The Force sender has a lever and mounts inside the port clamp bracket if memory serves. Newer models used the Mercury sender which is mounted at the top pin where the tilt ram attaches.

Where would the port clamp bracket be? I check the tilt ram and could not find anything. I also located a wire that comes out of the harness near the where the spark plugs are that looks like the signal wire connected to the trim gauge. I purchased this boat last summer and the previous owner said the gauge used to work. I assume the sending unit is still there unless somebody stoled it.

As you're looking at the motor from the back, the port clamp bracket is the bracket that clamps the motor to the boat on the left side. What year is your boat? I think they changed from the Force style to the Merc style around 1995.

My boat is a 1996 and the motor is 1997. I had already checked out the website link that WillyB suggested and it has the same information in it that the factory service and parts manuals have.
