A little background - I picked up this boat several weeks ago and I am unaware of the history, therefore I am not certain how long this issue has existed. As alluded to in the title, I can trim the engine up with no problem but it then rapidly slips back down after releasing the trim switch. My plan is to refill the trim fluid reservoir to see if this fixes the problem. However, there does not seem to be any leaks that I can see.

My question - if refilling the fluid does not fix the problem, what should be my next step be to diagnose the problem?

Thanks in advance for any insight into the problem.

I can not see or check your motor !-----Did you tighten the manual release valve screw ?------Replace o-rings on that valve.-------Careful there may be a snap ring to remove to take that valve out.
