I have a '93 225 Johnson and need to put the steel bar that the motor rests on when tilted all of the way down into one of the lower slots. The bar has something similar to a retaining ring that is keeping it in place. I cant figure out how to move it. It was in a lower location but my mechanic moved it up while working on the engine and did not return it to its original spot.

Remove one snap ring and slide it out. Put it where you want it, then install that snap ring.

It does not look like a conventional snap ring. Could not find anywhere to grab the ring?

Strange.... I can only suggest that you inquire of your mechanic as to how he moved it.

Yep, its not a conventional snap ring. Its a thin coiled washer. Almost impossible to get off in good enough shape to re-use. I usually just drive the shaft out, which knocks the ring off. Then a new ring when re-installed
