Trim stuck

My 90 yammy (08) is stuck up. Motor sounds fine and the trim was working right up to the boat launch. The engine went up no problem but won't come down now. Any suggestions?

There is a flathead screw release valve on the rig. This can be used for lowering the engine.

Sometimes they do get stuck up somehow. You can try pushing it down while holding the down button.

So I got the engine down through the valve screw on the side, then checked the trim - it now works, up and down. Is this normal? Can I rely on it?
