I am trying to troubleshoot a trim switch problem for my friend's pontoon boat. She has a Merc 90hp, SN: 0T318029. This is the trim switch in the shifter handle. I need to get the handle apart but the screws go in at an upward angle from the bottom, inside. The bottom screw looks impossible to get to without removing the handle. I'd like to find a parts explosion which could tell me how to get that handle apart, but I don't see any reference to it when to look up parts for the outboard by SN. Are the controls separately cataloged? If so, where do I find numbers to look up parts for it? When I was attempting to dismantle the shifter to get to the switch this past weekend I did not see any numbers on it.
I have not yet determined if I need a trim switch, but it is a prime suspect since the trim will go up but not down, using the shifter switch. Trim will go up and down using the switch on the outboard.
