Hi,
I need to adjust my trim tab to reduce a significant right hand pull.
When I lift the engine, it is certainly not obvious to me how I'm going to move the tab.
Can someone please tell me how to do this?
Any recommendations as to approx. how far it should be adjusted based on the amount of pull?
thanks,
Ian

The tab is secured by a central bolt. Loosen this until you can move the tab. To reduce pull to the right turn the tab to the left. then tighten the bolt. It is trial and error, adjust and try. Think of the tab as a rudder. As you stand at the rear of the motor, the direction that the part closest to you points is the direction it will tend to steer the boat.

Err, we know it's either a Yamaha or Suzuki from the board you've entered, but a little more inforamtion on the make, model and year would help someone help you more specifically.

Other way round. Standing at the back of the boat, the closest part of the tab is called the trailing edge. Adjust the trailing edge TOWARD the same direction of the pull. It may take a bit of trial and error - adjust, water test, adjust, water test............

Yep, Duna's right in regard to the direction to move the tab for correcting pull - but I think ihzunder was looking for info on how to loosen/tighten the tab so he can adjust it - not which direction to move it. On most Yamahas there's a rubber boot on the upper side of the sloping casting that attachs the AV plate to the lower leg. Take out the boot and there's a bolt head in the recess which holds on the tab.
