Hello,

Since I have installed my 23P prop along with a smaller sized Zinc Tab now it seems that I am getting cavitation between 1500-2300rpm. It sounds like growling in the water.

When I went to buy the new zinc tab, I asked for the one with no tab, but they said I wouldn't want that and talked me into a reduced sized tab instead. I am wondering what would happen if I were to just run a tabless zinc. There is some fear that the boat would steer differently.

Not necessarily. If the boat pulls a bit to one side as many do,the fin can be slightly angled to compensate. If your rig does not pull the tab w/o a fin wont make a difference. You will just get less zinc protection.Sounds like you may have the wrong prop on there or a spun hub.Charlie

Hmm, I have power steering, i guess i'll try removing it and see if it steers okay, if so then i'll take it back and get a flat one

Thanks!

Well, I pulled it off and it still makes the growling sound between 1700 and 2200 RPM. steering pulls a little to the left, not much tho
