I noticed that the reservoir for one of my trim tabs is a bit low. What kind of fluid does it take?

Well, DEXRON II ATF would be my choice unless the maker specifies something different.

Re: Trim Tab Fluid

My boat has Bennett trim tabs and the owners manual for them says to just use Automatic Transmission Fluid.

Thanks to one & all. I think I will go blindfolded into the garage and grab the first thing I touch.

SoLittle,

I am Thomas and I work for Bennett Marine in the Client Service Department.

If you have a Bennett Marine trim tab system, please use Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF, any type and you can even mix it if need be). Fill it to 2/3-3/4 full and you should be ready to go. In fact, if you will provide me with your mailing address (trimtabs@earthlink.net), I will be happy to send you an ATF Funnel Cap at No Charge to help out!

I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,
MJ Thomas
Bennett Marine, Inc

Re: Trim Tab Fluid

I have a Volvo Penta GI 5.0 in a Glastron CC. My Owners manual states to use "Volvo Penta DuraPlus Power Trim/Tilt and Steering Fluid". I don't think this stuff is something I can find at my local auto parts store. Does anybody know if I can use another fluid and if so what brand and type. Thanks in advance.

Cliff
