1999 Larson 206Lxi 5L EFI Alpha 1 with the stock 14.5 x 19 aluminum prop that needs to be replaced. I am generally pleased with my current performance but would like to replace with a SS Stilleto 14.25 x 19 prop available from iboats. On a competitors site they have a strong warning that a trim tab must also be installed. I can't find this recommended/referenced anywhere else. I have the stock flat plate in place now. Do I need this or not?? This boat is fresh water, ski, tube, usually with 4-5 passengers. Current WOT RPM is close to where it should be. Any recommendations??

Thanks..

Re: Trim tab for new SS prop??

The stock trim tab may interfere with certain props, so they recommend putting on one that will allow clearance. With the stock flat plate you'd probably be okay. As long as there is adequate clearance all around the prop.

Re: Trim tab for new SS prop??

;)Thanks for the reply. With no current trim tab to compare it to it was difficult to see from a picture what the difference would be. The flat plate (anode) presents no obstacle for the prop at all. I also was not sure if there was some other issue they are concerned about. I am hoping for better durability with a SS prop but also curious to see what a similiar size/pitch SS prop will do as compared to the aluminum I have now. As long my performance doesn't suffer, I'm good.. iboats price is good, reliable service.
