Someone thought they needed my trim (torque)tab from my OMC 800 more than I did and ran off with it. I'm having trouble finding another, since the OMC tab is not a sacrificial anode.

Will a trim tab from a large Evinrude outboard work? They look a lot alike and bolt up the same...

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Replace it with a zinc anode. A little extra zinc won't hurt the drive.

A lot of people think that the tab was liberated, truth is most vibrate of, no locking device. Use thread lock sealant, the blue stuff.

mkast: It was definetly borrowed since they were kind enough to leave the bolt behind for me. I'm just glad the prop is still there. I'll be sure to loctite the new tab, though. I never would have thought of that-- thanks!

airman: Any idea where to find a zinc tab for an 800? I've found every other make/model but no OMC 800...

Thanks for the input!

Sorry, I can't help you with a P/N. I would try the evinrude. If it fits, use it. Extra zinc is cheap insurance in my opinion. Good Luck

$94 bucks!?!? I thought it was aluminum or zinc, not gold!

I guess that's why it was borrowed...

Thanks to everyone for all the help!
