Installing trim tab indicators, for a 03 Formula 292 with the factory Bennett trim tabs about 12?x12? with two hydraulic cylinders pre tab, and the actuators have the three rings above the bottom one on them.
Has any one installed the electronic Bennett TPI 2000 tab position indicators or the BoatLeveler?s Insta-Trim electronic tab locator? Were there any issues in installing the sensors or the display? Were there any long-term problems with the indicators? Also the dash panel or the side console panel may need to be replaced to fit the tab display, is there a good place to get a blank stock.

Re: Trim Tab Indicators, Best Type to Get

I had Bennett trim tabs on my boat since 1981 and see no need for a trim indicator of any kind.
For me just more to go wrong and more to make you take your eyes off the water and traffic.
I do not adjust the same on any two days. Actually I do not adjust the same on two runs in the same day.
I adjust for the best ride or the ride I want on every run. Takes about 5 seconds.

For me as I start out I apply some trim and then when reach speed I want I do a fine ture for the water and wind condition of the time.

If you set the same every day then 99 percent of the time they will not be set for the best ride or the best fuel mileage on lon runs.

I've got a set of Bennetts with the indicator switch and I wouldn't have it any other way. The indicator tells you at a glance if the tabs are up or down and how they're set. To each his own I suppose...

I can't help you with the install though as mine had it installed when I bought them.
