I have 95 sea ray 215 express cruiser and I had noticed some red fluid in the bottom of the boat ... I started poking around and it's lead me to my trim tabs the pipe nipple that the hydraulic hose connects to leaks under pressure . I've put Teflon tape on the connection from the elbow fitting to the nipple . I've tried tightening the nipple but it just bottoms out against the back of the top portion of the cylinder and the tab won't move then because the fluid can't move past that point . I've backed it off to where it just drips and the tab works and used silcone around the nipple at where it threads into the back of the boat and will let it cure Is this ok ? Have I made another problem ?

The silicone most likely won't hold, since you've tried patching your bad parts and it didn't work... you should probably consider replacing them if the silicone doesn't hold.

Well I don't know if it has worked or not however if I completely remove the nipple will I be able to get it to thread back into the arm?

Are they bennet tabs? If so, contact them. I had a leak on the outside and they helped me repair it. Was just an o-ring, but they sent me the o-rings and the instructions.

I agree, Bennet has excellent customer service. It sounds like you have a line leak, or a ferrule leak

Yes they are Bennett tabs I believe that is leaking at the connection where the threaded nipple meets the back side of the bracket that the cylinder connects .

could be a bad cylinder end cap port. the bennets use a flexible cylinder end cap as the bracket. contact Bennet for replacement parts

Juniorcarp,

The upper hinge of the actuator (ram) can be replaced and this will cure your leak. If you send me a private message with your name and address I will be happy to send you one along with instructions how to change it out, no charge.

Those fitting are an interference fit. If you tightened it to the point of bottoming out, you have stripped the thread or cracked the cylinder housing. You can try wrapping more pipe tap on it but chances are you will need to replace the end cap of the cylinder
