Re: Trim Tabs
FreeBeeTony,

If they are the 14" x 12" Tabs on Ebay they would be a size you could use on your Grady. They are Bennett Trim Plane, and they appear to ne ones that were custom made for a boat builder to install in a pocket.

You would have to run the mountimg plates out under the bottom of the boat, so there can be no strakes in the way, and the bottom must be flat with no other obstructions. Normally boat builders will mold a relief into the bottom of the boat to accomodate the hinge. This makes for a litte less drag and a really clean looking installation. You could use them and there will be a little additional drag from the fasteners if it is mounted right on the bottom

Most do it yourselfers will prefer to have the standard transom mount with the holes going into the transom.

Since it is a Bennett Trim Plane the Mounting holes will not line up with the Boat Leveler (Insta Trim) Cylinders so you would have to drill new ones and fill the two on the trailing edge, The holes for the actuator will be much closer to the transom then the holes on them now since the Tabs were designed to fit in a pocket and have a diffrent "geometry" then the standard transom mount tabs.

All in all I would likely pass on these ones and see if you can find some "standard" Tabs, either Bennett or Boat Leveler to bid on as the installtion will be easier.

Boat Levelers web site is
www.insta-trim.com

I hope this is helpful, let me know what you think.

Tom McGow
Bennet Marine
