Trim / Tilt gauge erratic

Continued from a previous post regarding my trim / tilt gauge, I noticed yesterday that it started moving around when I slightly trim the leg up, Any ideas?<br />Boat is wellcraft 21sl 1997 volvo penta 4.3gl cobra sx leg

Sounds like the sender is sticking or going bad

Those senders never did work all that well after a few years

Where is the sender located?

its screwed to the side of the steering fork on the port side of the drive.

Starboard side on the SX.

What procedure should I adapt? Remove the sender, give it a clean or just replace? Whats the procedure for checking its broken?

On closer inspection today the white lead has completely sheared and was probably shorting on the leg at different intervals. Think I will buy a new one
