1972 Mercury 1150 - Tower o Power
1980 Thunderbolt 15' Tri-Hull Runabout
Symptoms:
Tilt trim stopped working a month after buying the boat. The motor whined and operated rather slowly the last couple of times it worked. Now the t/t doesn't work at all so I have the motor manually being lifted and using the manual pin when on the water. Solenoid Clicks and I can hear the t/t motor run slowly if I am right down next to it. Motor not able to lift/lower motor at all.
What I have done so far:
Replaced Battery with new one and keep maintained with trickle charge. Replaced Trim Solonoid today. Same Issues still apply. Solenoid clicks (now louder) and motor barely whines but will not lift the motor at at all.
Whats next for me? Can i tear into the motor and see if it needs cleaned or check the brushes, magnets, or such? Or should I replace the t/t motor now. db electric has one for around 130$ I could probably afford in the next month or so.
Thoughts? Questions?
