I cannot get my trim/tilt motor to work. When I flip the switch to drop it in the water nothing happens. I have replaced the motor and relays but still nothing...You can hear the relays clicking but nothing happens. Wiring the motor directly to the battery works fine - but not through the switch. (I have already burned one motor up). I am not quite sure where to go from here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Trim/Tilt Motor

Might be corrosion on the terminals at the switch or a bad switch. Try replacing it and see what happens.

If you bypass the switch and it works then you have a bad switch or a problem with the wiring to the switch - sound like it can be nothing but. Try temp wiring a witch directly and give it a try. Also, to narrow id down between the wire and the switch you can discountect the switch an us an ohm metet to verify the switch works. If iy does the problem is the wiring to and/from the switch

Re: Trim/Tilt Motor

I had the same problem on my OMC Cobra. I only found the problem when I put an ohm meter on each wire and found that the "down" wire (I think it was the blue wire) was open, It turned out that the wire broke away from the terminal at the relay mounted on the side of the engine. It looked ok to the naked eye, but when I removed the terminal plastic sleeve the wire fell out. I put a new terminal lug and I was back in action.
