Trim/tilt only lowers Outdrive half way

New to the forum today. 2001 190 HP mercruiser trim/tilt lowers half way then stops. Motor continues to run, but the system sounds awful when the motor stops moving. Goes up fine. Any help is appreciated.

Ayuh,... Is the pump full of oil,..??
Are the end caps on the rams Corroded,..??

Reservoir is full of oil, and the end caps look fine. Scary part is that it now works fine, and I didn't do anything. Hard to fix when it's working, and scary to think where I might be when it fails next time.

Put a good amount of waterproof grease on each shaft with the drive all the way up and run the drive all the way up and all the way down.Regrease if necessary and do it again and you should be fine.I had the same situation and grease solved it.Charlie
