Have a 90 horse two-stroke Johnson, just mounted it to my whaler. Went to check the trim/tilt and got an electrical sound, but no movement of the motor by the two rams. Manually lifted the motor onto support pegs, and tried the trim again. Got the rams to move out, but they will mot sustain support of the motor when it is dropped onto them.

Is there a port for hydraulic fluid? I am not sure what the problem is.

Thanks. Onthefly.

Re: trim/tilt problem

I'm afraid your asking a Johnson question in the Mercury section. You'll probably be moved. Make sure your manual relief valve is closed. Once the motor is up you should be able to see the plug to remove to fill the reservior. It might be a plug just like the ones you have on the gearcase, or you might have a plastic one that you can loosen with your fingers. Depends on the year and the model.
