i have a 1990 120 hp force with trim and tilt!

what happened is i loaned the boat out to (? a friend) and he some how backed it in to a pier and some how nicked the tilt ram! and it is now leaking by the seal and getting air in the system!

i dont have the money now to replace it but would like to use it a few times this year!

so what iam asking is there a way to bypass the tilt?

can i disconnect the top line and bottom line and loop them at the ram?(plug them at the pump)

will this work as trim only?

any help would be great! thanks

If you simply take out upper mounting shaft then the shockeye will keep getting jammed and wedged into swivel bracket. If you plug up lines then engine should not move because it will be locked into place by tilt hydraulic circuit. If you leave lines open then you let water into system and cause major damage.

The only way to disable tilt without taking tilt ram off of boat is to take tilt piston shaft off of boat and seal top of empty ram so that water doe not get in. Once you do this then remove both lines to the dead ram and cap off ports at pump.

It can be done but it is a bad idea not matter how you slice it.
