Trim/Tilt problems

Hello all,

I recently had trouble with by 1999 Johnson 225's tilt/trim. It would not go down while we were out. I switched the relays and that worked. When I got
back in I bought two new ones and left the old working one as a spare.

This got me to wonder how could I lower or rasie the motor maunually if I ever needed to? If the tilt motor itself failed for instance. Is there a way to do this?

There is a manual release valve on the side of the mounting bracket. It is a slotted head screw about an inch inside an access hole. Starboard side, I believe.
