Trim/Tilt .. Reservoir replacement

I recently had to replace my trim/tilt reservoir (actually I have it ordered now). It is one of the older Oildyne that uses the 1 bolt that attches to the bottom of the pump. I guess the thing had been cracked for a while. Anyway, I went ahead and removed it today. My question is, can I just replace the reservoir, add oil and it work? I'm thinking that I'm going to have to 'bleed' it somehow to get the air out of it? Any info I could acquire on this would be greatfully appreciated.

It's self bleeding. Just running the drive up and down will do the job.

Most T N T systems are self bleeding,But your resevoir may be hard to get.

I think there was a change of manufacturing or suppliers, and that resevoir is NLA.

Merc makes a kit to replace it,though.

Keep us up to date,

DHP

Thanks Don/DHP. Yes, I had to get an aftermarket part (MES). Darn thing cost $40 bux, (Ouch).
They do make a replacement kit, but boy, is it expensive. Just putting oil in there and letting it up and down was going to be my first choice, but I figured I'd ask this question now. If anything out of the ordinary is going to happen, it will definitely happen to me!
