Trim/Tilt Slow at Times

I’ve got a 1994 Johnson faststrike 150 model j150glera

When I raise the motor to leave for the lake after it’s been sitting for a week or so the trim and tilt are very sluggish. It raises but very slowly. And it’s the same speed from all 3 trim switches around the Boat.

I raised and blocked the motor and opened the resivor cap and good clean fluid came running out immediately.

The odd odd part is after I’ve been boating all day and pull it out of the water it raises fast like it should both up and down.

I can also also spray silicone lube around the trim rams when out of the water and it helps speed the rams up and down. It also bounces a little when lowering for the first time when launching. Could some of the pins that allow it to tilt up and down be sticking until they get wet or the trim seals be dry and creating friction?

Thanks for any help

I would load test the battery used for tilt trim .----Check tilt trim wiring and connections too.-----Does starter motor work properly ?---Different battery ?-----

I will double check battery. Starter spins and cranks great every time and runs all my electronics all day no problem with no signs of being low. Especially considering after a full day of using the battery’s the trim works great when leaving the water. I would have figured it would get slower as the day went on if it was battery related.

Perhaps issues with binding on pivot points.-----Perhaps issues with water leaking into the tilt motor and jamming motor bearings.----Sorry, I am not there to investigate hands on.

The hopping is probably "stiction" of the lift shaft. Once it gets going and gets a bit of hyd. oil on it it moves smoothly.

“Stiction” would make sense but is there any resolution to that issue or anything that can be done? My other though was this bushings on the pins/bolts that allow the motor to rotate could be full of old caked up dirt and grease when dry.
