I have a 2003 Yamaha 115 four stroke. I noticed my trim tilt gauge was not working. I discovered there is a plastic stop located on the bar that the motor tilts on that was broken preventing the trim switch from activating and the gauge from showing correct trim. This plastic stop slides over the rotating bar for the engine (covers steering mechanism). It appears that you would have to completely disassemble the steering mechanism in order to slide a new stop on. Is there any easier fix or a two piece plastic stop to correct this.

Re: Trim tilt switch

had this problem with my 2001 f115. i was afraid it would break if i tried to spread it enough to get it over the shaft. i boiled about a quart of water, took it off the burner and put the piece in the hot water about 3-5 min. made it pliable enough to get it over the shaft.

yes there is a new cam design. but even the old plastic design can be speard and fits over the tube.
on a single engine application with either cam takes 10 minutes.
