Hello All,
I am new to the forum and have a quick question. I picked up a new to me 1989 GT150, J150STLCEM for my deck boat re-power. After getting the engine home and mounted we understood we were not getting a tach signal and the stator was dripping black goo, so we ordered a new CDI stator and an OEM regulator. Unfortunately, I ordered the wrong regulator. So the power has been removed from the source, the flywheel pulled, stator removed and the current regulator remains until we get the correct one in hand. The problem is I need to move the boat until that part arrives but it cannot be done while the engine is all the way down.
Now...........can I simply and safely reconnect the battery, NOT OPERATE THE ENGINE, but still use the tilt/trim to get up and out of the way for travel? I do not want to put all of this back together to just have it apart again next week.
Thoughts?
Cheers,
David
