I have a 2007 Mercruiser 4.3 Alpha - Model 4-211025U S Serial 0W678963
My Trim/Tilt button works (makes bottoming out noise because foot is already down) when pushing IN but just makes a single click when pushing the OUT button and will not lift the motor. It is full of oil, clean, dry storage kept. Since it is a newer boat, all electrical connectors are the water-tight snap in type. All connections are tight and appear un-corroded. Always used in fresh water, no salt.
I read some other posts and think maybe it sounds like a solenoid. Never worked on one of these before so don't know what I am looking at. Is the Solenoid in the motor housing? I would suppose there are 2, one for up and one for down. Right? What is the best way to test and how to replace if necessary? Any other ideas on what's wrong?
Also, how in the world do some of you guys work on these for living? My 6'4" 230 lb frame refuses to go in that hole so I wind up standing on my head to get to anything. I have a new found respect for the mechanics at the dealer.
