I just purchaed an 85 Seaswirl Spyder, it's a sharp looking boat but I don't know much about it. It has an OMC cobra outdrive that has been all redone, but I can't get the outdrive down. The two cylinders at the front of the 350 go up and down, but the outdrive stays in the up position. Is there a trailering lock on the outdrive somewhere to prevent it from going down? I would like to get the outdrive down and make sure everything works all right before taking her on her inaugural run. This is my first I/O and would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks!

Actually,Cobra's came out in 1986.Are the 2 cylinders on the sides of the engine? If so you have select trim as well as a stringer drive.Definetily NOT a Cobra.Let us know where these cylinders are,and we can tell you more.

DHP

If you do have a stringer, the trim and tilt are two seperate operations.
The tilt that raises your drive all the way up for trailering should have a seperate switch.
I am not an OMC Stringer person, so can't say where, what it looks like or anything else. But if you have the boat and know nothing about it, I would suggest you find a dealer in your area that does and spend some time (and a few $$$$) to find out many of the basics before you end up costing yourself a lot of bucks in repair bills for unknowingly doing things that could damage the engine or drive.
A service manual would be the next thing to get.

Should be a toggle switch on dash for trailer trim, and a switch in the throtle lever for engine trim.
